I took some time to watch some football this weekend…introducing the famed Steelers franchise to my eight month old son while he struggled to get out of his father’s grasp and into whatever trouble he could find within his ever expanding world.
When I called my wife over, it was not to see the little man’s next great milestone, rather I rewatched a new Nike Fate commerical–all the while wishing it were for SPEEDO of course.
A chord was struck that moments are simply that. A culmination of a journey where sport overlaps into our daily lives because it brings about an aura of invincibility, wrought from a keen imagination, and rooted in play.
Sport can provide that confidence to achieve because along the way we encounter increasingly more difficult obstacles and meet or exceed them all only to ultimately realize the journey is the reward. And if the moment passes without hesitation, what will we remember?
